5/30/05 ~ Painted into a corner

Well, I finally got around to painting my sons room.  I bought a dark blue for 3 walls and a dark red for the other and was conveniently talked into a gray primer by the paint lady at Home Depot because the darker colors would take better to it.  Friday I taped off the molding and ceiling to speed up the painting process and not have to worry so much about drips.  Saturday I spent a good 8 hours priming and then cutting in and painting the 3 walls blue.  Between the priming and painting I put on a good 5 coats of paint and still managed to get some spots on some of the molding and ceiling.  On Sunday I start peeling off the tape before painting the red wall.. and man did I get pissed.  While I am removing the tape, sheets of paint are ripping off the wall with it.  In hind site I should have went along and scored it but I didn't have this problem with any of the three other rooms I had painted.  Also, not only did areas of paint peal off, but there were three spots that the tape ripped the top layer of drywall paper off... WTF man.  At any rate, I moved on to paint the red wall and met with the same shitty success in that it seems where I cut in the paint its way darker than three coats in the middle of the wall, and when looking at the blue walls there are spots where I can still see some transparency.  I'm pissed about the whole event. BLEH

In better news.  My friends Mandy and Erik had their baby girl Erika last Thursday.  She had a long labor at the end of a tough pregnancy, but her and the baby came through it most excellent.  She finally can wake up in the morning for the first time in the last nine months and not get sick and I'm happy for her about that.

5/22/05 ~ Her Barbie's always did it on the first date

Wow I have been lazzzzzzy about updating this site.  Not much new news in the past few months I guess.  Summer is coming and excitement is just around the corner I hope.

Brennan will be home in a couple weeks and thankfully will be home for the whole summer.  I'm really looking forward to that.  My sister and I are driving half way to Iowa to pick him up on June 3rd and it should be about a 12 hour round trip.  I personally think he is old enough to fly on his own but his mother thinks otherwise.  As a child I flew on a plane four times a year by myself from age 5 on without trouble but to each their own.  If anything the security these days are even better and I have no doubt that he would be able to occupy himself for a couple hours on a plane.

I have had to jump through hoops to get my schedule to work out this summer so that I can get the proper days off and be able to have a daycare provider.  I have to do schedule with different people a few weeks in a row, then have my parents watch him for a weekend while I work and finally take vacation days while someone else works for me.. rinse and repeat three months in a row.  Works a bitch when they wont do anything to help you out schedule wise.  Oh woe is me!

Anyway, hopefully I will try and update a little more often.
