10/31/04 ~ 47 beers later

Well Friday I got back in town from my moms and proceeded to make a costume so that I could head over to my brothers Halloween party.  The costume was pretty uneventful as I just tore up some jeans and bleached an anarchy sign into a black t-shirt and called it 80's punk.  Anyway, it was a pretty good time had by all but I didn't get home until 3am and was up for work again at 6:30am.

The day moved slow and I ended up jetting from work about an hour early so that I could go take an hour nap before the UofM and MSU game started.  At about 4:00pm I met my brother and his roommates at a local bar and we proceeded to drink $1 drafts for the entirety of the game.  With about 6 minutes left in the game, down 27-10, it looked as though UofM was going to loose.  However.. 47 beers (between the 5 of us) and 3 overtimes later it was a win for the Maze and Blue.

Great game, great fun, and it turned into a great night of sleep since I got home at a little after 9 and was in bed by 10pm.  Of course, what would daylight savings be without me waking up an hour early to head to work... stupid stupid stupid forgot to reset my clocks before I went to sleep.  Luckily I caught my mistake before I left the house otherwise I would have felt a lot more stupid showing up to work at 6am instead of 7.

10/19/04 ~ Aces and Sixes

Aces and Sixes on the flop isn't jack shit when playing poker with people who don't understand the etiquette of the game.  Ace/6 in my hand and an Ace/6/9 flop and I got some jackass to my left who was re-raising over the top of me with his shit pair of 6's while some shmo with pocket Q's checks into a win on the river.  I should have been able to buy that pot with my eyes closed.  Instead, 3 hands later I'm the second person out of the 16man, $20 buy in tournament.  The jackass with a pair of sixes that was on my left was out the hand before me, that's the only justice I saw on the night.

Things at work are becoming a little more pleasant now that some major slackass that I worked with got fired last week.  The workflow had not really gone down any for me, since I picked up his slack anyway, but at least now I'm not stressing out over the fact that pigfucker wasn't doing any work all day.

10/17/04 ~ Coffee Girl

I never really mentioned it  but about 4 or so weeks ago, while up north helping my mom out, I was at 7-11 getting my daily Cup of Joe when I encountered her.  We joked, and laughed (what a great laugh she had), and then we went our separate ways.  I was stupid and didn't even ask her name let alone phone number.  Weeks went by with me hoping I would see that Silver Jeep Liberty, that she drove, somewhere around the town.

Well... this week that opportunity provided itself.  Just by chance she was at the 7-11 getting her morning coffee before class when I showed up to get coffee before starting on another day of work on mom's house.  This time though I didn't let the opportunity slip away.  After getting her name and number, we met that night for drinks and had great conversation.  We also hung out on Friday and just lazed around her apartment with her roommates, watched a movie, studied some skeletal structure and got to know each other a bit more.  Hopefully things will continue to go well.

Made some good progress this week on the remodel of the house.  We painted the kitchen and bathroom, as well as put in a wood ceiling and floor in the pantry area.  The cabinets were not ready yet so hopefully we will get those in the kitchen next week along with all of the appliances and a new window.  Once we get that done the kitchen will just be some trim work away from being complete.  The bathroom should be coming to a close before too long to as we really are just waiting on the plumber to get the new utilities ran.

10/03/04 ~ Been toooo long

It's been a long five months since my last update and a lot has happened but I've really not been in the mood to post anything about it.  The major thing that happened was my ex wife moving to Iowa and taking my son with her.  This has been a real issue for me.  I've felt pretty empty inside and she can still only think about herself.  It's real hard going from a situation where you see your child almost every day of the week, down to not seeing him at all and only being able to talk on the phone (and now the computer since we both have web cams.)  Not being able to hug him and wrestle with him, play Hotwheels, or any of the multitude of things we always did is really tough.  I think the thing I will miss most is those days when you realize that your child has that new level of awareness in the world.  Like when they turn to you and say the most mature thing, something you would never expect a 6 year old to comprehend.  There is a whole lot more to that whole saga that I can write but this just isn't the forum I want to express it in.

Over the last month I have been heading up North to visit my mom and help her out with the new house she bought.  It's quite the project and I am loving the work.  So far we have stripped the lath and plaster from the kitchen and a room that will become the downstairs bathroom.  We have the drywall hung in both rooms and in the bathroom I did some new framing on one wall to create some extra space.  Basically those two rooms are a clean slate and once they are taped and mudded we will have a nice blank canvas to work with.  I'll explain more on the changes in future updates.

It's funny, I really enjoy doing all the remodeling work but I can't seem to get motivated to do it in my own house.  I think lately that has a lot to do with Brennan being out of state.  I noticed that when I found out they would be moving, and that I could do little to stop it, my motivation around the house really dwindled.  Basically, I feel defeated at times.

On a bright note, I got a new truck at the beginning of the month of September and I am really enjoying it.  I got an orange Chevy Colorado.  I'll have to put a picture up when I get un-lazy and take the ol' digital cam outside and click a few off.. you know, because it's so hard to take those 20 steps to the back door, snap a picture and then load it on the computer.

Anyway, more later, and hopefully sooner than it took me to make this update.
